A while back, the UK-based giffgaff SIM card, famous for receiving SMS messages, was all the rage. Has everyone already spent enough on it? I’m ready to share this now—no worries, I’m not cutting into anyone’s profits. Lately, the premium for blank physical cards has become way too high. Last month, they were around 20 RMB; now they’ve surged to over 60 RMB. But if your phone supports eSIM, you don’t need to spend money on these physical blank cards at all. Simply download the Giffgaff app on any eSIM-compatible phone, register with an email address, and top up with a minimum of £10 using a supported Visa or Mastercard. Benefits: No ID verification required; £10 is roughly 90 RMB—perfect for testing purposes. As long as you send one SMS every 180 days, your number stays active—you could potentially keep it for 10 years, depending on future regulatory policies. Currently, Hong Kong versions of iPhones and the Solana 2 phone both support eSIM. I’ve personally tested topping up using my HSBC Hong Kong account—no issues at all.
