Hackers compromised HBO Max's verified Reddit account (u/hbomax) and used it to post 108 malicious ads over 48 hours as part of the "PasteSwitch" campaign. The ads employed ClickFix social engineering to trick users into pasting commands that installed infostealers and fake crypto wallet apps mimicking Ledger, Trezor, and Exodus to steal seed phrases and credentials. Reddit removed the ads after detection; the campaign also included clipboard hijackers that swap copied wallet addresses on both Windows and macOS devices.
