These assets have derivatives exposure that rivals or exceeds their entire spot market cap. - When OI/Market Cap exceeds 1.0 — like PIPPIN right now — the derivatives tail is literally wagging the spot dog. Any forced liquidation cascade moves price 3-5x harder than on normally leveraged assets. This is where squeezes are born. - Cross-reference with funding direction. Positive funding plus high OI/Market Cap equals crowded long. Negative funding plus high OI/Market Cap equals crowded short. The squeeze always happens against the crowd. - Check our Whale-Retail Delta on the same assets. If whale positioning diverges from the crowded side, the probability of a violent resolution increases dramatically. - Note the large-cap cluster. BTC, ETH, SOL all sit below 0.05 OI/Market Cap — structurally sound. The leverage risk this cycle is concentrated in mid-caps and micro-caps ranked 100-500, not in the majors. - Use this as a risk filter for your portfolio. If you hold anything with OI/Market Cap above 0.40, understand that a 10% spot move could trigger cascading liquidations in either direction. Size accordingly. - Watch for rapid OI/Market Cap compression. When a coin drops from 0.80 to 0.30 in days, that is the squeeze happening in real time. The deleveraging event IS the trade.
