Garrett was mocked for his large short position in ZEC, but later publicly revealed he held sufficient spot holdings to hedge this risk. If this structure is accurate, funding rates are what truly matter—not automatically assuming a “bear market” just because shorts are large. The lesson is clear: on-chain data shows trading activity, but not always the full strategy behind it.
