After ZEC rose to around $1,500, even the ETF has undergone a split. This seems exciting, but a split doesn’t buy a single additional ZEC. Grayscale split 1 share of ZCSH into 3 shares, reducing the NAV per share to approximately one-third of its original value. Total holdings and total value remain unchanged; as of September 30, trading simply resumed at the post-split price. The real money flow depends on net subscriptions. According to SoSoValue’s data from September 17, daily net inflows were $46.56 million—zero of which came from the split itself. So I won’t use the “3-for-1 split” as a reason to chase price gains. The real question is whether fund shares continue to increase after the split—that’s the indicator of sustained ETF demand.
