Do your own research" shifted from advice to deflection somewhere along the way. People say it like it absolves them of responsibility. Token blows up, someone loses money, and the response is "well, did you DYOR?" That's not a safety net. That's a way to avoid building better infrastructure. The real problem isn't lazy users. It's that "research" on XRPL means manually checking block explorers, reading TOML files, guessing whether a blackholed account is actually blackholed. Most people can't do that. Not because they're dumb, just because the tools expect too much baseline knowledge. DYOR only works when the information is surfaced clearly. Right now it mostly isn't.
