Forget price for a minute. Can blockchain even process the world's financial system? Listening to Nadine Chakar discuss institutional scale tokenisation and the challenge of moving roughly $4 quadrillion through global financial markets each year got me thinking... If a public settlement network is ever expected to become a neutral bridge for value... How does one network cope with traffic on that scale? Then another thought crossed my mind... Was minting 100 billion $XRP simply an arbitrary decision... Or was it an engineering decision made with global liquidity in mind? Most people picture every payment flowing through one giant blockchain. But that's probably not how the future looks. Think of a river system. Thousands of small streams don't suddenly become one raging torrent. They flow into larger rivers. Those rivers merge into major waterways. Eventually reaching one powerful channel capable of moving enormous volumes of water. Liquidity could work the same way. ⚜️Internal bank ledgers. ⚜️Permissioned networks. ⚜️CBDCs. ⚜️Stablecoins. ⚜️Regional payment systems. Each has its own flow of value before settling into shared infrastructure and, potentially, a neutral settlement layer. Perhaps that's why organisations like the #DTCC are focused on interoperability, shared infrastructure and institutional scale settlement rather than replacing every database on Earth. The goal may not be for one blockchain to process every transaction... But to become the river that global liquidity naturally flows through. The question isn't whether one blockchain can process every transaction. The real question is... Can it become the settlement layer that connects everything else? ⚜️
