WORLD LAUNCHES WORLD MONEY SELF-CUSTODY FINANCIAL APP IN OVER 150 COUNTRIES Feature availability depends on local regulations and infrastructure. World, a digital identity project, has launched its self-custody financial app, World Money, in over 150 countries. The app integrates stablecoins, global payments, virtual accounts, trading, and yield-generating programs. However, the actual range of features available to users varies by market due to local regulations and infrastructure. FullscreenPlayNextMuteCurrent Time 0:19/Duration 1:37 Backward Skip 10sPlay VideoForward Skip 10s According to The Defiant on September 17, 2026 (local time), World Money is designed to allow World and World ID users to continue using their existing authentication credentials directly within the new app. The app supports balances in eight currencies and offers features such as sending money via World username, portfolio tracking, and price alerts. World Money also integrates a mini-app ecosystem. Users can access services like Kalshi, Credit, and Morpho directly within the app, along with the Earn yield program powered by Morpho. However, feature support varies across countries, and some services are subject to third-party terms of use. Virtual accounts are one of the core features of World Money. In the United States, Lead Bank receives wire transfers, which Bridge then converts into USDC and deposits into the user’s World Wallet on World Chain. Users can receive salaries or business payments through this feature, but it cannot be used for standard peer-to-peer bank wire transfers. In Latin America, virtual accounts are rolled out on a market-by-market basis. Ripio provides accounts enabling conversion of local currency into digital assets in Argentina, Colombia, and Mexico. However, this service does not support receiving salaries or business deposits, and users must complete customer verification when opening an account. For peer-to-peer money transfers, World Money allows users to send digital assets using only their World username in supported countries. However, World emphasizes that this feature does not make virtual accounts equivalent to a peer-to-peer bank wire service. The Earn program operates via on-chain lending protocols. Through this feature, users can deposit WLD, USDC, wrapped Ether, and wrapped Bitcoin into on-chain lending programs selected by Morpho. Yields may fluctuate, and withdrawal times may be extended depending on on-chain liquidity and protocol conditions. World also notes a range of associated risks. The app may expose users to smart contract risk and market risk; displayed interest rates and incentives are subject to change. Users who have verified their World ID may receive incentives for an initial deposit of 1,000 WLD and 1,000 USDC, but eligibility criteria may vary by case. As a self-custody service, users are responsible for managing their own accounts. World states it cannot access, reset, or recover users’ passwords or passkeys. If a user loses their current device and has no alternative login method, account recovery through support processes may be difficult. World Money is not a bank—it is a service provided by Tools for Humanity. Digital assets and stablecoins within the app are not government-insured, and using digital assets—including participating in yield programs—may result in capital loss. Thus, World Money’s expansion speed will not be determined solely by the number of countries it enters, but primarily by the scope of features that can realistically be deployed in each market. Key variables influencing user experience include local regulations, identity verification requirements, financial infrastructure supporting virtual accounts, and the presence of third-party services.
