What makes @vangrid_io interesting to me isn’t another points leaderboard. It’s how the project plans to make real-world data more trustworthy. There’s an important distinction to understand: → Points track contributions and leaderboard rankings. → USDC bounties pay for accepted captures. → $VAN is designed to support a future stake-backed verification system. According to Vangrid’s documentation, points are not automatically convertible into $VAN, and the token hasn’t launched yet. The planned verification model is what really caught my attention. Operators would stake $VAN before verifying captures. Approving fraudulent data or failing to complete assigned verification work could lead to penalties. Why does this matter? A file can have a valid cryptographic fingerprint without the scene itself being genuine. Physical AI needs more than proof that data hasn’t been altered. It needs confidence that the underlying information is reliable. Vangrid already has capture checks and onchain anchoring. The independent, stake-backed verification layer is still planned. Collecting millions of captures is one challenge. Making them trustworthy enough for machines to rely on is another. If Vangrid delivers this verification layer, $VAN could have a meaningful role in securing the network rather than simply rewarding participation. That’s the milestone I’m watching not just leaderboard points, but whether the project can turn real-world data into verifiable ground truth for Physical AI.
