How much should it cost an AI agent to ask "what's been captured near here?" On @vangrid_io the answer is one cent. Their pay-per-request API runs on x402, an open payment standard built on HTTP's old "402 Payment Required" code. Here's how a call works: → The agent asks for data → The server replies with a price → The agent signs a USDC payment and asks again → The data comes back in the same request No sign-up. No API key. No invoice. Just a wallet with USDC on Base or Arc. Gas is covered. The current prices: → $0.01 to search an area and time window → $0.005 to fetch a single observation → Free to check whether a capture's hash is genuine and where it's anchored onchain That last one is my favourite. Verification is free. Anyone can check the receipts. They've also released an open-source MCP server, so agents in Claude, Cursor and similar tools can call it directly, with spending caps per call and per bounty. The docs even recommend a fresh wallet holding only what the agent is allowed to spend. Sensible. An honest note on what you get: this open API returns proof data. That means a coarse location (about a 1 km cell), the capture time, and the onchain anchor. No video, no wallet addresses. The full 3D models come through bounties and the enterprise side. And if the place you need isn't covered yet, the same agent can post a bounty and pay a human to go film it. Machines paying machines a cent at a time, with humans filling the gaps. That's what an agent economy actually looks like. Would you let an AI agent spend from your wallet if it had a hard cap? @NucleusCodes
