Stablecoins are moving from crypto infrastructure to banking infrastructure. A group of 21 financial institutions including Goldman Sachs, Citi, Bank of America, Deutsche Bank, UBS and Fidelity plans to launch a dollar stablecoin in the first half of 2027, with a euro version already next on the list. For me, the interesting part is not another bank entering crypto. It is 21 of them deciding they may need shared blockchain rails for payments and settlement. At some point adoption stops looking like adoption and simply becomes infrastructure.
