Circle is strengthening its position within the U.S. financial system. 🏦 The New York State Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) has granted Circle Internet Trust Company a limited-purpose trust charter. What does this mean? Under New York banking law oversight, Circle will be able to: ▪️ Hold client assets ▪️ Provide trust services ▪️ Facilitate securities settlement ▪️ Act as a transfer agent ▪️ Operate in the digital assets space However, the license does not permit accepting deposits or extending loans like a traditional bank. Jeremy Allaire emphasized that obtaining this license was a long-term goal for Circle—the company was the first to receive New York’s BitLicense back in 2015. This is another step toward deeper integration of stablecoins into the regulated financial system. USDC currently has a market capitalization of approximately $71.8 billion, making it: ➡️ The second-largest stablecoin ➡️ The fifth-largest cryptocurrency by market cap Circle is no longer just seeking to participate in the financial system. The company is steadily building its own position within its regulated infrastructure. Is this a true breakthrough for stablecoins—or just another regulatory step?
