And stablecoins are the default payment method. These are "headless" merchants - meaning no checkout page, no storefront, no sales team. (Just a server, endpoints, and a price per call) Traditional payment processors can't exactly underwrite a "merchant" with no website or legal entity. Stablecoins are permissionlessly programmable, so any dev can make an endpoint payable without signing a merchant agreement.
