Drift Protocol Receives Up to $1.275 Billion in Support from Tether for User Compensation According to an announcement on Drift’s official website, following a theft of approximately $296 million in assets on April 1, Drift Protocol plans to compensate affected users by establishing a user recovery pool in collaboration with partners such as Tether and issuing dedicated recovery tokens. The announcement states that Tether intends to provide up to $127.5 million in support, with additional contributions of $20 million from other partners. The overall recovery package includes a $100 million revenue-backed credit line, ecosystem grants, and market maker loans, with the goal of gradually covering the approximately $295 million in user losses using exchange revenues and supported funds. Drift will also issue transferable recovery tokens to affected users, representing claims against the recovery pool. The protocol will resume operations after completing independent security audits by Ottersec and Asymmetric, and will migrate its settlement assets from USDC to USDT.
