Japan is going all-in on AI, chips and economic security. Tokyo is seeking ¥7.8T ($49B) for its Industry Ministry next year, with nearly ¥2T targeted at AI, semiconductors and robotics. Another ¥680B is planned for critical minerals and rare earths. PM Sanae Takaichi is also targeting ¥370T in public and private investment across strategic industries over the next 14 years. Japan clearly sees technological and economic independence as a national priority. And that could have major implications for global supply chains, AI and semiconductor markets.
