Tesla expands Austin Robotaxi service area by roughly 9% — Teslarati Tesla has expanded its unsupervised Robotaxi service area in Austin to approximately 288 square miles, adding about 24 square miles from the previous 264-square-mile footprint — an increase of roughly 9%. The new boundary extends north along US-183 toward Pflugerville, adding areas north of The Domain, including Mesa Park and surrounding residential and commercial districts. The change was not announced through a standalone Tesla press release. Instead, the expanded boundary was first identified through an update to Tesla’s Robotaxi service map and subsequently reported by multiple Tesla-focused outlets on August 31. For investors, the significance is that Tesla continues to expand the real-world footprint of its unsupervised Robotaxi network. With the September 3 Austin Cybercab event approaching, the next milestones are Cybercab deployment → fleet expansion → growth in paid autonomous miles.
