Australian Court Weighs Expert Access to Tesla’s Internal Engineering Systems — Reuters An Australian Federal Court judge is considering allowing a court-appointed independent expert to access Tesla’s internal engineering systems in a class action involving alleged phantom braking in Model 3 and Model Y vehicles, self-driving claims and driving-range representations. The case involves roughly 10,000 Tesla owners. Plaintiffs argue that Tesla’s document production lacks technical data needed for the case, while Tesla says much of that information resides in dynamic internal engineering platforms rather than static documents. Tesla has raised confidentiality concerns over direct system access. The case returns to court on November 12. This is not a finding of liability or a new regulatory restriction. However, direct access to Tesla’s engineering systems could expose Autopilot/FSD technical data to closer independent scrutiny, making the case relevant to Tesla’s continuing autonomy-related legal risk.
