According to recent filings submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Gwynne Shotwell, President and Chief Operating Officer of SpaceX (SPCX), plans to sell approximately $52 million worth of company stock. SpaceX filed a new Form 144 on the SEC website, disclosing Shotwell’s intent to sell SpaceX shares, and notified investors and the media via email. The email arrived in recipients’ inboxes at 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time on September 22, immediately after the Nasdaq close, labeled “Form 144 (Notice of Proposed Sale of Securities).” However, upon reviewing the SEC disclosure documents, it became clear that Gwynne Shotwell—SpaceX CEO Elon Musk’s right-hand person and known as the “Rocket Woman”—plans to sell a significant amount of company stock (see PDF of disclosure below).
