🚨 1.2M KOREAN MARGIN CALLS JUST EXPLAINED WHY PYTH WENT TO ASIA South Korea’s retail leverage boom finally hit the wall. A Goldman trading-desk note circulating this week says more than 1.2M leveraged retail accounts crossed margin-call thresholds by July 13, with hundreds of thousands reportedly forced into liquidation. Then the KOSPI dropped another 6.4%. Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix were hit hard, while regulators rushed to restrict the leveraged single-stock ETFs that helped turn Korea’s AI rally into a retail casino. Margin borrowing in KOSPI shares was still sitting near 28T won on July 14. This is exactly the market @PythNetwork spent the last year positioning for. Pyth already brought major Hong Kong equities onchain and expanded Pyth Pro across Asia. It now publishes a dedicated Seoul feed for SK Hynix alongside coverage of its newly listed U.S. ADR. And this is where the Asian expansion becomes relevant for $PYTH. Pyth Pro and the Pyth Data Marketplace turn regional coverage into paid data products. A portion of that revenue flows to the DAO, while the PYTH Reserve has been using protocol revenue to purchase PYTH on the open market. More Asian assets create more products. More products create more institutional data demand. More demand can create more revenue and greater purchasing capacity for the Reserve. Korea’s liquidation crisis is bullish for the Pyth thesis because it proves Asia is not a secondary market. It is a massive source of volatility, trading demand and valuable financial data. Pyth arrived before the market showed exactly why it was needed. The price of Asia. The price of everything. Everywhere.
