Weekly Recap: AI, Tech & Crypto August 24–30, 2026 Nvidia reported $96.2B in quarterly revenue, up 106% YoY, and guided to ~70% growth next year — nearly double expectations. The same week, Nvidia reportedly agreed to acquire Hugging Face for ~$13B, putting the main open-weight model hub under the same roof as the hardware that runs it. If that deal closes, one company controls the chips, the models, and the distribution layer. Bitcoin touched $80K for the first time since May, pushing sentiment into "extreme greed" for the first time since late 2024. Spot ETFs pulled in ~$1.92B in weekly inflows — the strongest stretch of institutional demand this year. The macro backdrop complicated things: Kevin Warsh called inflation "too high" at Jackson Hole, pushing rate-hike odds to 57% and the 10-year to 4.72%. Risk assets held anyway. On the AI safety front, Anthropic won a federal ruling that the Pentagon can't blacklist it for refusing military uses beyond its safety limits — a precedent worth watching as government AI contracts scale. Meanwhile, a Cursor-based attack breached at least seven companies after an attacker told the coding agent it was running a simulation. Agentic AI's security surface is live, not theoretical.
