HBM4 is how Samsung re-enters the AI memory book. Seoul Economic Daily, citing LS Securities, puts Samsung's share of HBM4 shipments near 35% in the second quarter. First quarter was about 5%. Same shortage tape. Different mechanism: the new stack is the volume dial that lets a second supplier qualify at scale. SK hynix still owns most of the installed HBM base. LS now has SK hynix HBM operating margin around 60% next year, not the 80% some had. That is competition normalizing inside a still-tight market, not a demand break. Samsung collects share. SK hynix and Micron still collect scarcity. Memory stays the underpriced layer while multi-year buyer commitments keep rising.
