They can host frontends, execute backend logic, store data and communicate with other canisters. Subnets run replicated state machines: nodes process ordered update messages and use consensus to agree on state changes. 🔐 The dashboard’s ETH-equivalent transactions metric is a workload comparison, not Ethereum transactions processed by ICP. The key measures here are ICP’s own transaction rate, instruction throughput, block finalisation and canister activity. 🌍 Subnets, independent node providers and geographically distributed data centres provide the infrastructure for applications to run directly on $ICP. Cloud Engines extend this model with dedicated capacity for specific workloads.
