One thing about smart contracts that deserves more attention is that they can be trustless in execution but still depend on trust when information enters the system. Take a DeFi lending protocol. The contract can liquidate a position automatically when the collateral value falls below a certain threshold. But it cannot independently look at the market and decide what that collateral is worth. It needs an oracle to supply the price. If that information is manipulated or inaccurate, the contract can follow every rule correctly and still reach the wrong outcome. That is the weakness I find interesting. We have spent years building systems that remove intermediaries from transactions, yet external information can remain a critical point of dependence. This is where Intelligent Contracts become worth exploring. GenLayer is working on contracts that use AI to evaluate information and handle decisions that cannot always be reduced to a simple numerical condition. That could make onchain agreements useful for more complex situations where context and interpretation matter. It does not mean AI automatically removes trust or guarantees correct decisions. The real challenge is making those decisions reliable, verifiable, and resistant to manipulation. For me, the next step for smart contracts is not simply executing rules faster. It is finding a better way for blockchain applications to deal with information and situations that exist beyond their own network. @GenLayer
