Now we get to one of the most important parts of @get_optimum : performance. Optimum's own materials advertise 6–20x faster block and blob delivery compared with Gossipsub, along with a claimed 90–95% reduction in bandwidth usage. But there’s an important detail here: those headline numbers come from Optimum itself, so the research also looked at testing from outside the company's own marketing. On Ethereum's Hoodi testnet, mump2p recorded average block propagation of around 150ms, compared with roughly 1 second for Gossipsub. That works out to about 6x faster propagation. More importantly, Everstake independently tested mump2p on Hoodi and reported a 5–6x speed improvement, while also reporting no meaningful additional overhead from running it. So the interesting part isn't simply that Optimum says it's fast. There is actual validator testing behind some of the performance claims. However, the numbers aren't identical across every test, which is something we'll get into next when we look at the Lido mainnet figures and why the 2.42x number matters.
