Imagine telling a smart contract to do something, but only getting one shot at it The transaction either happens exactly as expected or it doesn't That works well for simple actions like swapping tokens or transferring assets But real-world workflows rarely happen in one step You might need to check a condition, execute an action, wait for another result and then continue with the next step Today, much of that coordination still happens outside the contract through bots, keepers or users The contract can execute But it doesn't naturally understand the bigger workflow around that execution This is one of the problems @Fermah_xyz is exploring with protocol agency Instead of thinking about protocols as contracts that simply wait for transactions, we can start thinking about them as systems that can express actions and conditions that need to be fulfilled That makes it possible to move from isolated transactions toward more continuous, multi-step execution And that matters because the more autonomous crypto becomes, the less useful a world of disconnected single-shot transactions becomes The next generation of protocols won't just execute calls They'll be able to participate in the workflows those calls are meant to accomplish
