Ethereum Set Date for Glamsterdam Testing, but Developers Warned of Attack on Sepolia What's happening: Glamsterdam is Ethereum's next big upgrade after Fusaka (Dec 2025) and Pectra (May 2025). It's built to push more throughput per block without overloading verifying nodes — expect gas accounting changes and a block gas limit climbing toward ~200M, meaning more txs and payments per block. It also bakes validator-builder interaction directly into protocol. The catch: On a low-value testnet, that builder auction system is cheap to game. A dev on the consensus layer bluntly noted anyone could spin up thousands of fake builders, bid high, then simply not deliver blocks — "any teenager can do this." Current safeguards only kick in after repeated failures, so clients still need to learn to blacklist bad builder identities on the fly. The timeline squeeze: Client teams now have until Sept 29 to ship Sepolia-ready software — just 7 days before fork, half the usual 14-day security/bug-bounty window. Teams accepted the tighter window because Sepolia is easier to recover if something breaks. Titan and Ultrasound's block-building software hasn't finished the Glamsterdam transition yet.
