Most blockchain demos look healthy right before the infrastructure starts sweating. My day job is building clean interfaces. My alter ego is Bare Metal. He shows up after the testnet hype dies down, when somebody has to deal with the dirty state nobody included in the pitch deck. He does not care about your rounded corners. He cares about what happens when the cache misses, the disk starts thrashing, and RocksDB compaction turns a healthy node into a stalled one. While developers celebrate deploying 50,000 lines of Solidity, Bare Metal is running pprof, tracing memory allocations, and asking why an execution client suddenly needs 48 GB of RAM just to survive state sync. That is why I look at @RallyOnChain and GenLayer differently. Most people look at what gets built. Bare Metal looks at what happens when everyone starts using it. I write code that looks elegant. He writes the low-level refactor that keeps the node alive when the block is full. The UI can look beautiful. The demo can go viral. Then the block gets full, the writes pile up, and your state database hits write amplification on raw NVMe drives. When the hype turns into real load, does your architecture survive the disk I/O, or do your validators quietly stall on sequential writes? That is when Bare Metal clocks in.
