$ESPORTS is rallying again. For those who like to accumulate positions, consider this indicator: Compare the total open interest (OI) with the market cap (MC). When OI exceeds MC, this can serve as a key signal. Generally, this suggests the operator is still active and hasn’t abandoned the project. Whether it’s a pump-and-dump scheme depends on the operator’s trading behavior. If it is a pump-and-dump, you can ride the wave—exit when it pumps, and buy the dip when it crashes—but only if you monitor OI data. Otherwise, accumulating is just a false strategy. Many fall into the trap of chasing low-market-cap coins, but you’ll find that whether a coin pumps has little to do with its market cap. What matters is whether the operator is still active—if they’ve left, you could be stuck for a long time. For example, $ESPORTS has an MC of $27M and an OI of $54M—OI is 2x the MC. This strongly suggests the operator is still involved; a pump is likely just a matter of time. But beware of volatility.
