The Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union states that everyone has the right to the protection of their personal data. That data must be processed fairly, for specified purposes and on the basis of the person's consent or another legitimate basis laid down by law. The current Big Tech paradigm treats personal data as a resource to collect, combine and monetise, often without meaningful consent. Polkadot products and tech aim to enable this fundamental right for everyone. Starting with keeping people in control of their own data by default in the upcoming Polkadot products.
