USDT on Bitcoin, Slightly Less Theoretical Most weeks in this space are announcements about announcements. This one was different for Utexo. Four posts in two days, and they say more together than apart. -> Mastercard Utexo joined the Mastercard Crypto Partner Program. To be precise: this isn't a product integration. It's access. A seat in the room where card networks are working out how stablecoins fit into the rails they already run. That matters for a settlement layer. The operators who most need to skip Lightning channels and RGB state are the ones already plugged into networks like Mastercard. -> Utexo Mint Mint is live. Users can onboard ahead of the public launch, and developers can test integrations on Bitcoin Signet with bridged USD₮. Signet is a testnet, so this isn't mainnet settlement yet. But it's where "we're building it" becomes "here, try it." Nobody signs off on an integration from a whitepaper. -> Mint and redeem, live At The Future of Capital Markets, the team demoed minting and redeeming USDT on Bitcoin. Transfers get the attention, but a stablecoin rail is only as useful as its way in and its way out. Without that, everything in between is a closed loop. -> 28/11/2026 Then a single line: "28/11/2026 It's coming home." No details. I won't add any. Some context though. USDT's first home was Bitcoin. Tether launched on the Omni Layer in 2014, before Ethereum and Tron took most of its supply. It left because other chains were cheaper and faster at the time. Make of the phrasing what you will. -> What's still open How many wallets and PSPs come through Mint. How Signet testing turns into mainnet volume. Whether Mastercard access becomes real distribution. Those answers come in integrations, not posts. Still, it's been twelve years since USDT left Bitcoin. A long time for a problem everyone agrees should be solved. @utexocom
