"BlackRock bought $665M of Bitcoin" 👀 is everywhere this morning. 🏦 $665M. 3 takes. 0 hold up. Let's go point by point. 💰 Take 1. "BlackRock bought $665M of BTC." - That's IBIT's net inflow on Oct 19: $665.2M of investor money coming into the fund, its biggest day since Oct 2025 (Farside, The Block). - Clients bought fund shares. The fund holds the coins for them. 🛡️ Take 2. "PBIT means no more losses." - BlackRock's PBIT filing says the fund won't hold bitcoin directly. It uses options on IBIT in three tranches. - Each tranche starts with roughly a 10% max loss before fees, gains are capped, and the filing says investors "may lose some or all of their money." - It's a filing, not a fund you can buy yet. 📈 Take 3. "Wall Street is all in." - Same day: Fidelity's FBTC -$83.6M, Grayscale's GBTC -$54.9M. Without IBIT, bitcoin ETFs were down $138.5M (Farside, CryptoWatchDesk). - Ether ETFs lost $103.3M. - Today Switzerland's FINMA approved its first retail spot bitcoin ETF, and still warned bitcoin stays "highly risky." One fund had a big day. Not a whale buy, not a guarantee. Does capped upside for a capped downside make sense to you? 👇 #Bitcoin #ETF #Crypto
