Approximately 6.4 million BTC, or 30% of the supply, have exposed public keys. Of these, around 1.1 million BTC are believed to belong to Satoshi. This estimate comes from Quantum Alliance, a newly formed consortium of nine crypto companies working to establish quantum-resistant security standards. No quantum computer currently exists with sufficient power to launch an attack, but some experts believe 2028 could be a realistic milestone. The hardest question is how to handle Satoshi’s coins. CZ once suggested freezing them if they remain unspent. Opponents argue this would violate the promise that “no one can seize your money.” I believe this debate will be more challenging than the technical problem itself.
