𝐀 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐲 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐤𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠. I explored the DOUBLEtop Vault strategy using @tryquantio, and three things caught my attention. 👇 1. Quant Score: 72/100 Quant AI rated the strategy “Good.” That's a useful starting point, but I wanted to understand what sat behind the score rather than judge it by the rating alone. 2. Maximum Drawdown: -7.31% This was the maximum drawdown reported in the platform's available history. A drawdown tells us how far a strategy fell from a previous peak, making it an important metric when evaluating downside risk. But there's another detail worth considering: the strategy had only around 109 days of measured operational history. That isn't enough to establish how it would behave through a prolonged bear market or a major market shock. 3. The Market Conditions Matter A strategy's historical performance doesn't guarantee it will perform the same way in a different environment. Sudden volatility, changing market trends, and unexpected reversals can all challenge a strategy. That's why I wouldn't rely on a Quant Score or drawdown figure alone. My takeaway? I want to understand both sides of a strategy: what its data shows and what the data hasn't yet tested. That's where Quant AI becomes useful for my research. It helps me dig into strategy metrics and ask better questions before deciding whether something deserves further attention. A good rating can catch my eye, but understanding the limitations is what makes the research valuable.
