Google's quantum team says its new method can "substantially reduce the size of the quantum computer needed." No date, and no mention of bitcoin. Still worth knowing where the exposure actually sits. Most bitcoin addresses show only a hash of your public key. The key itself goes on-chain when you spend, or when you reuse an address. (Taproot addresses are the exception: they show the key from the start.) So the coins first in line are the ones whose keys are already public: very old outputs and reused addresses. The practical version is boring. A fresh receive address every time keeps your key off the chain until you move the coins. https://t.co/OI3xdh3Jba
