Why should you lower your profit expectations when the market is performing better? The market has been strong lately—BTC surged over 40% in a short time and is now at $84,000. Many believe it will keep rising, with some even targeting $95,000! When I first entered the crypto space, I thought bull markets meant you should take bigger risks. When BTC was rising, altcoins were catching up, and everyone in the group chat was doubling their money—I thought holding light positions was wasting the opportunity. Later, I realized: the more obvious everything becomes, the worse the risk-reward ratio tends to be. In an earlier market cycle, I made steady profits early on and saw my account grow significantly—but I still wasn’t satisfied. I hesitated to buy at lower levels, then, once the trend was confirmed and sentiment peaked, I started using leverage and chasing small-cap coins. My goal shifted from making 30% to demanding a double. Then, when the market made a normal correction, I gave back most of the gains I’d accumulated over months. At the start of a rally, prices are low and opinions are divided—those willing to embrace uncertainty capture the best odds. By the later stages, the news is better and consensus is stronger, but entry costs have risen significantly. What seems like the lowest risk is actually when new buyers are drying up—and any利好 that falls short of expectations can trigger a mass exit from crowded trades. So, the hotter the market gets, the less I focus on how much higher it might go, and the more I ask myself: “If it suddenly reverses, how much of my profit am I willing to give back?” I reduce positions, lock in principal, and lower leverage—not because I’m bearish, but because I refuse to let greed undo trades I’ve already gotten right. Remember: the better the market performs, the easier it is to make money—but the harder it is to keep it. A truly mature bull market strategy isn’t about capturing every single uptick; it’s about never betting back all your profits at the moment of peak excitement.
