First time properly diving into Bitcoin DeFi today. I decided to start with @ZestProtocol and put 0.0004 BTC to work by opening a Bitcoin Collateral Vault through Xverse. The part I find most interesting is that my BTC doesn’t need to be wrapped or bridged over to another chain. It stays on Bitcoin L1 inside a self-custodial vault, while still giving me the ability to use it as collateral and access USDC liquidity on Ethereum. Getting everything running was surprisingly quick too. I connected Xverse and my Ethereum wallet, created the vault, deposited the BTC, and activated it. That was basically it. Now the vault is live and my next step is testing the borrowing side. Still exploring, but I like the concept so far. Finding ways to unlock more utility from native BTC while keeping it on Bitcoin itself is definitely something worth watching.
