On one side is the United States, home to AI tools widely regarded as the most advanced in the world today. On the other is China, offering AI solutions that are affordable, budget-friendly, and highly accessible. Underlying this question was a difficult dilemma: Which side will Vietnam align with? Clearly, either choice is challenging, as both are colossal trading partners of Vietnam, with deeply intertwined and complex relationships. Yet, General Secretary To Lam’s response was highly compelling: Vietnam will adopt pioneering and modern AI tools, and AI development must be pursued with responsibility. Vietnam’s core objective is to use AI to serve humanity and advance national development goals. In other words: Vietnam is not choosing solely between the U.S. or China. We choose whatever is advanced, suitable, practical, and delivers the highest effectiveness.
