The need for privacy and how strkBTC fulfills it strkBTC brings BTC into Starknet DeFi while holders keep custody, BTC exposure, and more control over what they show on-chain. For me, that last part is what makes strkBTC interesting. The privacy gap in BTCFi Starknet has spent years building around ZK, first for Ethereum and now Bitcoin. strkBTC follows that path as a 1:1 backed, redeemable BTC asset for Starknet DeFi. The privacy gap is easy to see. Once BTC moves on-chain, balances, positions, and wallet activity can be tracked. This matters for large holders, treasuries, or anyone who simply does not want every move public. What users really need: + keep BTC exposure + use their own wallet + put BTC into DeFi + shield balances and activity when needed I think this is a much more useful way to look at privacy. Give users control over what they share instead of making everything public by default. How strkBTC works STRK20 adds shielding directly to the asset. strkBTC is the first asset using it. Users can keep strkBTC public or shield balances and transfers with ZK proofs. The flow goes like: 1. Hold BTC in your own wallet 2. Bridge through https://t.co/wf1CxsbrBW, @Atomiqlabs, or @gardenfi 3. Manage it with @xverse or @ready__x 4. Use strkBTC in DeFi 5. Shield or unshield when needed The initial bridge uses a federation of independent parties, with plans to reduce trust over time. What I like here is the simplicity. You keep BTC exposure and use the same asset, while privacy becomes something you can turn on when needed. Putting private BTC to work strkBTC already connects with several Starknet DeFi apps: + @endurfi for liquid staking + @vesuxyz for lending + @SatsTerminal for borrowing + @avnu_fi for trading and private swaps + @EkuboProtocol for liquidity + @trovesfi for earning strategies + @xverse and @ready__x also bring shielding into the wallet. This is where strkBTC makes sense to me. BTC can earn, trade, or borrow while users have more control over what others can see. What’s my thoughts? strkBTC lets BTC stay useful in DeFi while giving holders more control over what stays public. There are still smart contract, bridge, liquidity, and market risks, and privacy has its limits. But for BTCFi, I think this is the right direction. Put BTC to work, without showing the market every move.
