The Starknet strkBTC faucet is back. On September 15, @Starknet opened a 24-hour registration campaign, promoting it as “up to ~$100 in BTC.” That post garnered 580,000 views and impressions. A second round opened on September 22. To be honest, the rewards are modest. This round’s prize pool totals $833, with a maximum of 100 winners—roughly $8.33 per person. Half is credited directly; the other half requires registering for a privacy pool before claiming. Compared to the first round in May, where users received about $4.20 each, or Gavin’s 2010 faucet that gave away 5 BTC per person, this is a fraction of the value. For recipients, it’s the cost of a cup of coffee. Since its launch in May, strkBTC has been live for over four months, with a circulating supply of approximately 96 tokens and a market cap of $8.26 million. Its 24-hour trading volume stands at $850,000. For context, by the end of last year, over 1,791 BTC were staked across various protocols on Starknet—indicating that strkBTC’s scale remains relatively small. But this campaign has been successful. It’s not merely an airdrop to distribute tokens; it’s a low-cost way to guide users through an entire privacy flow: wallet setup, identity verification, shielding, and claiming—all in one seamless experience. With this shift, Starknet is now targeting both BTC users and privacy-focused users: the former care about whether they can bring in and use their assets; the latter care about whether their balances remain private. The strkBTC faucet serves as the most affordable and straightforward user education tool within Starknet’s broader “privacy + BTCFi” strategy.
