Hungary’s currency was doubling in price every 15 hours. By 1946, the pengő had become almost impossible to use. A 100 quintillion pengő note was printed, while an even larger denomination was produced but never circulated. Prices could change between morning and evening. Wages lost value before they could be spent. Eventually, the pengő was replaced entirely. This was the worst inflation ever recorded. And the currency everyone remembers?
