“We have lost control”: Crypto investors warn AI could trigger a systemic shock Marc van der Chijs, co-founder of Hut 8, is increasingly concerned that AI is advancing too rapidly. He believes the race between corporations and nations could cause humanity to lose control, with AI potentially exploiting vulnerabilities in banking systems and critical infrastructure. Nevertheless, he still believes AI and robotics could replace 90–95% of current jobs and drastically reduce the cost of goods. Van der Chijs previously sold much of his Bitcoin to invest in AI, but has now begun reinvesting AI profits back into crypto, primarily through ETFs. He maintains that if he could hold only one asset for life, it would still be Bitcoin.
