$1.5B in Short Liquidations Build Above Bitcoin Bitcoin is currently around $81K, sitting between large liquidation zones on both sides. Here’s the chart in simple terms: If bitcoin:native moves higher, short liquidations begin building around $85K–$90K. Above $90K, the cumulative short exposure increases quickly. The pressure continues building through $100K–$110K, with the chart showing roughly $1B+ in cumulative short liquidation exposure around this region. Toward $125K–$130K, that figure approaches $1.5B. Why does this matter? When leveraged shorts get liquidated, their positions are forced to close. That can add buying pressure and potentially accelerate an upward move. The downside matters too. Below the current price, long liquidation exposure starts becoming more significant around $75K–$70K, with larger liquidation zones extending toward $60K and below. So the levels we're watching are: $85K–$90K: Short liquidations begin building $100K–$110K: Larger short liquidation exposure $125K–$130K: Cumulative short exposure approaches $1.5B $75K–$70K: Long liquidation risk increases $60K and below: Larger long liquidation exposure This doesn't tell us which direction Bitcoin will move. It tells us where leverage could make the next move more aggressive. If BTC pushes higher, shorts can become fuel for a squeeze. If BTC breaks lower, long liquidations can accelerate the downside. Liquidation maps don't predict direction. They show where leverage could amplify it. Source: @CoinMarketCap
