A woman can spend years making financially responsible decisions for her family and still make one expensive mistake for herself: putting her own wealth creation on hold. It may be a career break after having a child. It may be stepping back from work to care for parents. It may simply be putting every spare rupee towards the family’s needs and telling herself she’ll invest later. “Later” sounds harmless when you’re 30. But money that doesn’t get invested today also doesn’t get decades to compound. The EY–Lxme 2026 report estimates that women in India accumulate around 40% less retirement wealth than men. That gap isn’t created by one bad financial decision. It can be the result of many years of small compromises. Taking care of everyone else shouldn’t require a woman to postpone taking care of her own financial future. Her money needs a place in the family’s future too. Her Money, Her Freedom.
