If you can’t tell what is going on in AI at a macro level, here’s the short list: - The market at large is basically propped up on rising AI valuations - Open source models are insanely good, many of which are out of China - AI companies are the ones who want to be regulated in order to create a moat around their businesses - Private credit, corporate debt, and creative circular financing by hardware companies like Nvidia are dependent on “number go up” - Open sourced models are insanely cheap to run, like 10% of the cost So all of the headlines fear mongering AI is not an attack on AI-heavy businesses - it’s a cry to be bailed out. Their goal is to scare the public and buy enough political influence to get AI regulations in place, which secures a crony-capitalism moat around something that should not have a moat around it. It’s anti competitive at its core… which, if you’re going to scrape the entire internet to create your model (the biggest IP theft that will ever happen, in the world) you shouldn’t be protected in selling derivative works of that stolen IP back to the public… at a minimum you should have to earn the business. If you regulate AI, that means you are centralizing the authority of truth. Who do you trust to do so? Open source anything is the best way to self-police that thing, AI included. Not to mention, the amount of money in AI talent - whatever AI regulator that may be put in place would be the B, C, D, E, or Z teams compared to the literal trillion companies doing Michael Jordan sized employment contracts. I still believe AI and blockchain converge, at some point in the future… which would solve for a portion of AI industry trust issues (what was the model trained on, how has it changed over time, who owns the underlying IP which trained the model, are they compensated, etc)
