Sometimes I wonder whether I should contribute to the ongoing debate about artificial intelligence: Is it truly a threat to humanity? Will it eliminate jobs? Then I think that this technology has rendered the rest of the world irrelevant—this race is between the United States and China, while everyone else sits by and watches. Protective measures are only possible if both countries realize that AI is becoming a threat to them, and only if they themselves consider: If all work is taken over by artificial intelligence, what do we do with our own people? If, in seeking the betterment of our own citizens, we neglect the rest of the world, then this is our only viable option: In the U.S., discussions about income support are already underway. If this is the case, shouldn’t they provide financial aid to Americans—not the entire world? Only under one condition: if they use our natural resources for artificial intelligence. Technology has made these companies immensely powerful. The entire world is raising an uproar on social media; laws have been enacted in various countries—but now these companies are beginning to feel the difference, as American states and citizens have filed lawsuits against them.
