CRYPTO EVENING REVIEW — 18 SEPTEMBER 2026 Market regime: 🟢 Crypto breakout / macro divergence This is the strongest crypto session we’ve had all week. Bitcoin has broken through $80,000, trading around $80.8K in the latest market data, up roughly 5% on the day. Bitcoin ETF flows also turned positive Thursday with about $159–160M of net inflows after two days of outflows. More importantly, BTC has done this after absorbing the failed CLARITY Act vote, the Fed’s first rate hike in three years and today’s BOJ hike to 1.25%. That’s genuine relative strength. The wrinkle: traditional markets have turned risk-off again this afternoon as Treasury yields move back toward 5%. So tonight’s story is: BTC BROKE $80K WHILE STOCKS AND BONDS WENT THE OTHER WAY. That makes $80K the single most important level overnight. 🌍 Global markets Asia initially traded well. Earlier Friday, MSCI Asia-Pacific ex-Japan was +0.55%, the Nikkei +0.9% and South Korea’s KOSPI +2%, helped by cooling oil and Thursday’s Wall Street rebound. The BOJ then raised its policy rate to 1.25%, its highest in 31 years, but the yen weakened rather than strengthened. Europe reversed sharply lower. The STOXX 600 closed -1.1%, with autos down 3.4%; London’s FTSE 100 fell 1.4%. Wall Street is also lower around the 6 PM UK window. Rising Treasury yields are weighing on sentiment, nine of the S&P 500’s eleven sectors are down, and today’s quarterly triple-witching expiry is adding volatility. Crypto-linked equities, however, are outperforming as BTC rallies.
