THE CRAZIEST PART OF AN AI DATA CENTER MIGHT NOT BE THE GPUs. IT MIGHT BE THE CABLES. Look at this. Hundreds of connections. Optical cables running everywhere. Transceivers packed into every available port. And honestly, this was the first thing I noticed. You can build the fastest GPUs in the world... but they still need to communicate with each other. And when AI models are spread across thousands of GPUs, moving data between them becomes a massive engineering problem. That’s why modern AI infrastructure needs specialized networking. High bandwidth. Low latency. Fast switches. Optical connections. Everything has to work together. Because if the GPUs are waiting for data... all that expensive compute is sitting there doing nothing. That’s the part I think people underestimate. When we talk about AI hardware, we usually talk about GPUs. But the GPUs are only one part of the machine. The network is what turns thousands of separate processors into one giant computing system. And the bigger AI gets... the more important that connection becomes. At some point, building an AI data center starts looking less like building a computer... and more like building a nervous system. The GPUs are the brains. The network is everything connecting them.
