G7 JUST WARNED THE WORLD TO GET READY FOR POST-QUANTUM ENCRYPTION. For Bitcoin, that means 6.9M BTC could be at risk, including about $80B in Satoshi’s wallets that have not moved for over a decade. The fix already exists. BIP-360 is live on testnet. But the idea of freezing coins that don’t move was rejected as “authoritarian.” Bitcoin may not fear quantum computers as much as it fears changing old wallets. And that could have a huge cost.
