Point Predictive has launched Bust-Out Alert, a real-time service designed to help auto lenders detect fraud rings that stack vehicle loans across multiple lenders. The company also introduced a Bust-Out AI agent and an industry working group to address the scheme, which it estimates costs the auto industry $250 million to $350 million annually. The fraud works because an applicant can apply for loans at five or six lenders within the same month, and those tradelines typically do not appear on credit reports for at least 30 days. Each loan appears clean during that window, allowing a person to take multiple vehicles without intending to make payments, leaving losses with every lender. Bust-Out Alert notifies lenders in real time when an application enters underwriting with multiple lenders in a short period, closing the reporting gap. It leverages Point Predictive's consortium, which covers $5 trillion in historical applications and adds 3 to 5 million new applications monthly. The service is FCRA-compliant for adverse action and can be accessed via API or web interface. The Bust-Out AI agent runs behind Point Predictive's firewall on the same proprietary data, scanning for patterns like shared identities and coordinated timing across institutions. It delivers findings each morning. The working group was formed after lenders requested a collaborative approach, aiming to stop bust-out rings rather than push them between lenders. Point Predictive says alerts fire within 400ms as loans are approved for funding.
