Quantum compute is usually sold as access to a machine. Quip is exploring a different unit of purchase: the answer. The distinction matters. With reserved hardware, you pay for capacity. With metered cloud access, the meter keeps running whether the result helps or not. Quip’s open-market model instead lets a job carry a reward while quantum and classical solvers compete for it, with payment tied to a valid answer clearing the required threshold. That changes where the economic risk sits. The buyer defines the problem and what counts as acceptable; providers spend their own compute trying to satisfy it. @quipnetwork is therefore treating compute less like rented infrastructure and more like a competitive marketplace for outcomes. The interesting question becomes not “which machine can I access?” but “who can produce the result I actually need?”
